Mines OK altho' it may get a little confusing working out short file names from long 1s! 1 can even use Cyrillic letters now! I do not use the printer on USB.
If 1 bought a PC + `Windows' XP installed outside USA then when 1 goes to the DOS prompt the keyboard = the same as when using `Windows'. The problem happens when in Wales (or 1s own kingdom!) that = not included + DOS. There = no KEYB command + XP but there is a similar 1 called KB16; so before starting WordPerfect 5.1 (or other DOS programmes such as EDIT) type KB16 UK (or KB16 FR for French; KB16 IT for Italy; but note that for Brazil KEYB BR = the same as USA (+ `dead’ keys) but KB16 BR = different). KB16 PL (Polish) or KB16 RU (Russian) do not work. Altho’ the CHCP command may still be used to change the codepage used so 1 may then need to use WP's own keyboard configuring. (or make a text document + COPY CON myfile.txt [enter] ([ctrl]+z to finish) at the DOS prompt & format it later by opening it with WordPerfect 5.1. So the commands =:

chcp 863
kb16 cf
cd\wp51
wp/cp=863

to change the codepage for Canada (French), then change the keyboard layout for it. Goes to WP51 folder & tells WP to start & use the same codepage as was set for the screen.

cd\wp51
chcp 866
wp/cp=899

changes the folder & then gets the Cyrillic codepage but the keyboard will not be changed. (WordPerfect 5.1 includes the accent marks over vowels that help learners of the Russian language while XP dose not. That is why the codepage Nos. are different). This works fine in full screen until 1 comes back from `view document’ when it goes to using the standard codepage 437 (which only includes some letters that are the same as Cyrillic 1s).

codepages
437 = USA (Greek letters for maths)
737 = Greek (437G)
775 = Baltic
850 = Latin I (Western)
852 = Latin II (Central)
855 = IBM Cyrillic (primarily Russian) (not + MS-DOS6~W’95/8)
857 = IBM Turkey
860 = Portugal
861 = Iceland
862 = Hebrew
863 = Canada~French (Greek letters for maths)
865 = Norway & Holland
866 = Cyrillic (not + MS-DOS6~W’95/8)
869 = Greek
899 = Cyrillic including accented letters (not + XP either)
