Creating AutoText entries

Were you able to move your dot files to your 2007 box? If you move your dot files over to the new version, your autotext entries will still be there--just type your shortcut for the AutoText entry and press F3. No need to look on the Ribbon for anything :-)

If you don't have your dot files in your copy of 07, then use the shortcut key (ALT+F3) that I mentioned in the previous post to CREATE your entries. The drop-down box that I referred to in the previous post is in the dialog box that you use to create your entry--not on the ribbon. Select the text that you want to use as an AutoText entry, press ALT+F3 and you will see the dialog box that I mentioned.

Use the keyboard to insert your entries when you need them--you don't need to look on the ribbon at all.

The ribbon definitely makes things much harder to find until you get used to it. If you really want to find the commands that you used in previous versions of Word, you can use Microsoft's guide that maps the commands from one version to another.

This link will take you to an excel file that you can download with cross references.

This link will take you to an interactive guide. You point to a command on the 2003 toolbar and the program will point to its location in 2007.

Sorry if I confused you on the last post.
